Brown Elementary School opened its doors in 1952. It was named for Edward L. Brown, who served the Denver Public Schools from 1898 to 1931 as a teacher, principal and assistant superintendent. Recently, Brown was selected for revitalization, and a committee of teachers, parents and community members researched several different curricular programs. They ultimately chose to implement the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme, and the school became known as Brown International Academy.
